My role as a intermediate care worker involved a variety of duties focused on active recovery and skill building. I was to encourage individuals to perform daily activities themselves rather than doing tasks for them. This hands-off approach helps rebuild confidence and skills. But in some cases, where intervention was required, I would assit with washing, dressing, using the toilet and ensuring medication was taken correctly. Whilst also, making sure to uphold the person's dignity and confidentiality.
