I have been registered as an Occupational Therapist for over 24 years. During this time I have worked in a variety of clinical areas which have developed me into a highly skilled clinical professional. My last two positions have developed my leadership skills and have been responsible for leading and developing teams as well as working on NHSE initiatives and national guidance.
I have strong verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to emerging challenges. This is evident in my time as clinical and operational manager of a wheelchair service where I launched Personal Wheelchair Budgets in line with NHSE requirements and most recently with my work as Professional Lead Occupational Therapist for Community Health Services, supporting the flow of patients across the system.
I am comfortable and capable working autonomously and am able to self direct, but I also excel as a team worker and problem solver and am known for my dependability and ability to react with compassion in workplace situations. This forward-thinking approach ensures proactive solutions and continuous improvement to support our staff and patients within the NHS whilst we are facing unprecedented challenges.
Within the last few years I have managed the introduction and launch of Personal Wheelchair Budgets within a wheelchair service and have also introduced Criteria Led Discharge into a community hospital setting. Both of these initiatives required me to communicate effectively with others to negotiate and implement changes. Those communication skills have also been required to support training of staff with these new ways of practice. I have had to had strong organisational skills as well as resourcefulness to manage my other day to day work alongside these projects.
A well rounded practitioners I am a keen learner who actively reflects on challenges and situations within my personal and professional life to allow the opportunity to grow and succeed.
