Having worked with Four Paws in the past, I am fully aware of the ethos and vision which inspires their involvement world-wide when animal welfare is at stake. My own commitment to these principles has compelled me to speak out against acts of cruelty and exploitation many times in my private life, and to support the work of charities such as Four Paws, Greenpeace, and the Princess Alia Foundation.
The work I did with PAF allowed me to put into reality my vision of being able to enable special needs children through the creation of relationships with animals- horses in particular. It also necessitated that I work collaboratively with other NGO's, a variety of professional bodies from all over the world, local teams of volunteers and laborers, and a mixture of academics and specialists. This frequently required that I give presentations to both large numbers of visiting officials and to small, intimate family groups.
I managed over sixty volunteers, and was totally "hands-on" at all stages.
Since my return from Jordan, I have had the privilege to work again with Dr. Amir Khalil- we met in Jordan- on the front line of two Four Paws missions.
This job opportunity to work with Four Paws on a semi-permanent basis is a chance I have been deeply hoping for over the last few years.
In my role for Devon County Council, I have to deal with confidential and complicated data on a daily basis, as well as organise my work load efficiently. I also need the skills relevant to reach out to families and discuss in a suitably empathetic manner what are often difficult and sensitive issues.
This requires a huge amount of tact and honesty, while maintaining clarity and focus on what is really important in a restorative sense.
I trust that these same abilities will serve me well in the role of Head of Communications.
