Work history

MARKETING AND WEBSITE EXECUTIVE

G&A FRASER T/A ALBA THE ART SHOP
Oban
03.2022 - Current
  • After some time away from the company due to new employment and furthering my education, I was recruited to develop and launch a modern website that would bring the traditional art and gift shop into the 21st century. A website dedicated to Scottish artists, Art supplies, unique cards and gifts, and even a kitchen Garden.
  • Key Strengths and Responsibilities:
  • Using my eye for design and my relevant generational skill in technology, I designed and created a brand-new website from scratch, following a detailed plan to achieve goals of expanding the business clientele, reaching customers across the UK and modernising the business operations.
  • From doing administrative skills in school, I learned that electronic point of sales (EPOS) was a vital part of the future of businesses. The art of marketing to extend the customer pool of a business is complicated when a business typically caters to the older generation. I compiled and reviewed consumer data on patterns and preferences for marketing information and from that the business gradually increased the usage of social media, blog posts and community apps and platforms, Alba has seen an increase in generational sales.
  • Overseeing the functionality of the website, weekly updates with new product features, and wrote engaging, entertaining and informative blog scripts for different uses. Devised creative strategies for highlighting goods and promoting specific attributes
  • Using forms of communication such as teams, shared documents and in-person visits to develop marketing plans to support department strategies, keep up to date on stock levels and discuss upcoming deliveries.

CUSTOMER ASSISTANT

TESCO PLC
06.2019 - Current
  • I work within a dynamic and growing team providing quality customer service to the community in a retail environment greeting and serving customers on checkouts in a friendly professional manner
  • I also work within the online shopping service (dotcom) department through click and collect and home deliveries fulfilling customer orders
  • I am a part of a key aspect of the Tesco Enterprise as I deal face to face with our steady stream of customers
  • Key strengths and responsibilities:
  • Conduct myself in a proper manner while being respectful to both my colleagues and the customers who come through our doors, helping anyone with questions or general needs
  • The checkout team at Tesco is forever changing depending on shift times
  • While working with many different people, I have created good work relationships with different colleagues, this has helped me develop my team working skills
  • Dotcom (online shopping) is a fast-paced individual job that requires concentration, consistency, and organization
  • Starting at 4 am or 6 am in the morning requires dedication and commitment, especially during the pandemic when work practices were always being changed and updated
  • Dotcom also means being on the shop floor for most of your shift and knowing where all the items are and on what aisle which can be a challenge to master, however, this is necessary to enable pick targets to be met and deliveries on time
  • In my job I deal mostly with customer problems that occur at the point of payment
  • Being able to identify problems before they escalate and find a solution
  • We as employees can come across many problems throughout the day, many of which can be resolved by communication, dealing with these problems has given me experience and confidence in problem-solving
  • Lead a group of individuals in training exercises teaching them the ins and outs of the company policies and procedures and how to resolve any conflict if it were to arise, aiding in the management of organising shift timetables, overtime sheets and to do lists
  • In the last 6 years of working within the Retail industry, it has allowed me to develop my communication skills, being able to understand information more accurately and quickly
  • Being able to actively listen to others in the business can help projects and tasks progress effectively and become more productive in my job
  • Established key relationships with my colleagues and higher members of staff not just in one location but in several
  • I am a key point of contact and have aided in the modernization of some of our smaller locations.

Shop Assistant

G & A FRASER T/A ALBA THE ART SHOP
10.2015 - 03.2019
  • ALBA the Art Shop is a small local independent retail store selling various supplies of art, crafts, and gifts
  • This job was a jack of all trades as most staff were multi-skilled in the roles they were given, during my 4 years of working in Alba I was able to develop many different skills while being supported by senior members of staff who have had years of experience in this field
  • Key strengths and responsibilities:
  • Being able to work within a small space with a limited number of staff having to rely on them for help and assistance, while also working solo having to think on my feet and have confidence in myself and the job I was tasked with
  • During breaks we were often left to manage the store solo, so this gave me confidence when working on my own, having to juggle many different tasks at a time
  • An ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced and ever evolving regulatory environment and being a key point of contact for advice from the client regarding the contents of the shop
  • I was recognized as a crucial part of the shop team as I had a gift for design and could create an eye-catching shop window display which showcased new products and best sellers
  • I was often tasked with taking in deliveries for the store
  • Checking off products from the delivery note and determining alba selling prices
  • Creating personalized balloons for clients with special occasions coming up, being able to meet deadlines and creating a good quality product
  • I was responsible for computerizing the stock take of the shops inventory through excel and making the shop more efficient and shaving over 2 weeks off the paper route and freeing up staff time to undertake more important jobs
  • While working the shop floor, completing admin work, and answering phones and customer questions, I needed to have the confidence to deal with stressful peak times and deal with any queries, prioritizing what was required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain key ongoing client relationships and to build excellent working relationships with all colleagues.
