My career as a nurse offered me extensive experience in therapeutic communication, emotional support, and ethical practice. I am skilled in building trusting relationships, working with individuals in distress, and maintaining professional boundaries. I have witnessed and supported individuals facing life changing experiences, this has in turn shaped and changed me and I have always viewed this as a privilege as it has enriched my life and me as a person. I have learnt many clinical skills and gained a broader knowledge and insight as a community public health nurse but have always been aware that without a trusting relationship those skills and that knowledge can not be utilised. As a naturally reflective person this is a part of my role as a nurse and now as a counsellor I have developed and relished as I find it fascinating and productive. I used to have Children and young person's mental Health (CAMHS) supervision so am used to this process. I consider continued professional development to be vital to my satisfy my curiosity and to develop my self awareness.
Having personal therapy along side my counselling training has been transformational, totally necessary and has enhanced my overall experience and ability to be present for others.
My break from working as a professional since 2021 has given me the emotion space to be able to apply myself to my own therapy and to my studies.
I volunteered at Horseworld from 2021 till 2025 supporting young people out of education to access a 6 week learning programme along side the rescued horses.
