
I am a hardworking ,enthusiastic ,determined individual who has 20 plus years experience working within the care sector. I have always had a genuine interest and enthusiasm for helping and caring for others. I strive to complete all tasks given to the best of my ability. I am an excellent team player who has the ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised .
I thrive from making a difference to someone's life. I have strong communication skills with either verbal or non verbal individuals , I have achieved level 1-6 in Makaton sign language which i love to use when possible.

As a Teaching Assistant at Highfields SEN school I supported with managing young adults in Post 16 whom had autism and occasionally displayed behaviours that challenged. I worked well as a team member to support the needs of the pupils and assist them with the various activities. I was required to utilise both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to ensure that the pupils understood what was required of them.
-I assisted with the delivery of 1-1 support and adhered to their individual education plans (IEPs)
-Support the teacher and create resources and preparation the classroom.
-Maintain good record keeping/ attendance monitoring/ documenting behaviour incident records
-Utilising de-escalation techniques and applying team teach techniques as a last possible resort.
In April 2024 I had increased duties as I had been promoted to support the school by becoming an unqualified teacher. This promotion enabled me to have increased responsibilities and duties, including: managing and delivering lessons, planning lessons, managing and supervise teaching assistants, working with multi-disciplinary teams, safeguarding pupils, communicating with families and parents, attending regular meetings and creating a safe environment.
Provided medical, emotional and physical support to a young female who had a diagnosis of profound multiple learning disabilities. The duties involved:
-Assisting with personal care utilising appropriate moving and handling equipment and techniques.
-Appropriate skin assessments were made during personal care tasks to reduce the likelihood of pressure sores.
-Maintain the individuals dignity throughout all tasks.
-Delivery of personal centred care that was specific to the individuals needs and preferences.
-Complying with set physiotherapy routines and working closely with the community teams to ensure that holistic care was delivered. Completing exercises three times a day to promote pressure relief and relaxation as the individual was a wheelchair user.
-Working within my scope of practice. I had attended appropriate training courses which enabled me to attend to the individuals health needs. This individual required regular postural physio and airway suctioning. As well as applying appropriate ventilation as and when required.
-Safely administrating medication as per prescription. Administrating the medication through a gastrostomy feeding tube (PEG).
-Adapting methods of communication to ensure that individual has understood. Promoting interaction through various sensory exercises to engage the individual and enhance her stimulation.
-Provide opportunities for engagement and interaction in a fun and enjoyable environment.
-Maintaining a clean and safe environment as well as, utilising appropriate personal protective equipment.
Provide opportunities for engagement and interaction and to build friendships with the service users. Making sure it is fun and enjoyable environment . Creating and delivering day to day activities to service users and ensuring a high quality of care and support and community experience to assist the service users to maintain a degree of independance ,develop skills,have fun and make friendships that improve quality of life.

My role as a SSW was to provide compassionate care to the adults at Beeches at Hollybank Trust. Supporting adults with various profound and learning difficulties to complete daily living skills and encourage independence. I adhered to the companies set policies and procedures and aimed to create a positive working environment. As a Senior member of staff I was required to run and manage shifts. I would advise Health Care Support workers to complete duties within the home and for the service users. I would complete regular supervisions and holding briefing meetings encouraging and inspiring staff to perform and deliver a high standard of person centered care to each individual .
-I worked closely with the service users to create and review their care plans. I adhered to each individual care plan to ensure that personal centred care was delivered.
-I participated in regular audits to ensure that the residential home was abiding by the set policies and procedures.
-Supported and assisted with taking required medication, safeguarding physical and mental wellbeing.
-Provided support with social activities, sports and hobbies,, and general household duties , enhancing day-to-day life.
-Attended health care appointments and worked with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure that all the service users needs were met.
I assisted a young girl with cerebral palsy for 8 years every evening and once a month respite care within my own home . I assisted with daily routines personal care, shower, physio stretches , Gastroscopy tube feeds and medication . also the social aspects we used the hydro pool once a week,Baking, bowling and pizza hut. Theatre and cinema trips and enjoyed lots of different craft activities.
As a senior Education assistant and working at Fairfield school for 18 years learnt me alot about the different disabilities and how to deal with engagement , behaviour , personal care , positioning , physiotherapy,
