As community receptionist i am responsible for insuring pupils leave the premises safely, I liaise with outside agencies who are interested in hiring spaces within the school and support visitors and contractors that arrive on site. Uphold confidentiality with sensitive information handling procedures.
I worked in the nurture provision within a mainstream school, our aim was to support pupils who have past trauma or a neurodivergent need. Understanding that the pupils communicate through their behavior and are often experiencing sensory overload and trauma responses I was able to use trauma informed practice, strategies and techniques to support the pupils to regulate. Within the nurture room we were able to validate and show empathy towards pupils feelings, provide a safe space and routine.
Led small group sessions for enhanced focus on challenging topics. Supervised students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips providing safe, supportive environment.
Prepared classroom materials to facilitate efficient lessons. Assisted children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
The combination of my counselling training and working within a nurture provision I have both the experience and knowledge of understanding the complexity of individuals who have neurodivergent needs or developmental trauma associated difficulties I am able to connect with pupils using empathy & understanding and also establishing routines and clear boundaries
