Senior property damage restoration technician

  • In this role I work as a Senior Property Damage Restoration Technician for the largest building restoration company in the UK called Polygon, my day-to-day role includes but is not limited to:
  • Driving a 3.5 tonne company vehicle covering the Herefordshire, Worcestershire and South Wales areas.
  • Carrying out surveys across all perils for relevant insurance companies for fire and water damaged properties, which includes flooded properties and recommending the best course of action to complete each claim in as little time as possible whilst ensuring the upmost quality in maintained.
  • Using moisture measurement equipment and drying properties with relevant drying equipment and specialist drying equipment.
  • Create accurate floor plans of the affected areas of properties.
  • Appointing sub- contractors to carry out specific work that is required.
  • Removing obstructions such as tiles and plaster that will hinder the drying process.
  • I have received Asbestos sampling and safety training as I regularly take samples of materials which are thought to contain Asbestos and send them off for testing.
  • I have received training in Portable Appliance Testing which can include making sure equipment is safe to install into homes or testing Policy holders' electrical contents to make sure they are safe.
  • Inspecting Policy holders' contents that have been damaged to determine if they are unaffected, restorable or beyond economical repair.
  • Cleaning properties that have been affected by sewage, using relevant chemicals safely.
  • Managing an area and the work load within: planning my routes, calling Policy holders to arrange/ rearrange appointments, managing claims to ensure they are completed in as little time and as little visits as possible to comply with SLA's, conversing with Loss adjusters and Loss assessors on the plan of action and carrying out joint site visits, managing claims to progress them and to get Polygons visits booked promptly.
  • Manage a lock- up ensuring stock of consumables and equipment are always plentiful and never in short demand for myself and for other technicians.
  • Complying with English Heritage and informing/ asking permission to carry out certain works that can cause damage.
  • Being on- call on a Rota basis to attend emergency appointments.
  • Critical use of internal/ external systems and creating costs for each claim. On my company phone and laptop.
  • Execute detailed reports for clients.
  • Create spreadsheets and fill out data onto already created spreadsheets.
  • Using my knowledge of property construction to effectively maximise every claim.
  • Using moisture management tools to map out moisture/ determine whether properties are back to pre- incident condition and create drying certificates for clients to then begin re- instatement works.
