Sailed as an Engine Cadet for a total of 30 weeks, completing MCA sea service requirement onboard Normand Navigator including dry docking in Stavanger (10 year renewal).

Duties included :

• Assisting with planned and corrective maintenance of main and auxiliary engines, pumps, purifiers, compressors, deck machinery and generators gaining hands-on knowledge of shipboard machinery.
• Participated in supervised engine room watchkeeping, developing awareness of safe operations, monitoring and reporting practices.
• Supported machinery overhauls and testing improving practical skills with tools and equipment
• In dry dock: observed and supported machinery strip-downs, inspections, valve overhauls, and shipyard engineering projects strengthening my understanding of large-scale maintenance processes.
• Contributed to and followed the planned maintenance system (PMS) carrying out jobs and record-keeping. This gained experience in documentation and compliance.
• Reported maintenance findings, defects, and abnormalities to the Second Engineer as part of my daily round developing professional communication and adherence to chain of command.
• Helped maintain clean engine room/machinery spaces promoting a healthier work environment.
• Participated regularly in drills
• Assisted ETO with electrical aspects of the vessel

• Deckhand – Sheerwater (Passenger Ferry) & ORCA III
  Assisted in daily vessel operations including passenger safety, mooring, and routine maintenance. Gained hands-on experience in vessel handling, engine room checks, small boat engineering, and mechanical maintenance. Continue to work on a relief basis on Sheerwater during college breaks.
• Deckhand – Annie E (Mooring & Anchor Handling Vessel, contracted to MOWI Fish Farms)
  Covered crew positions across three trips (1 × two weeks, 2 × one week). Assisted with anchor handling, mooring operations, and general deck work. Carried out watchkeeping duties during towing operations and supported engineering team with maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery.
• Marine Support – Yacht Launch/Recovery & Maintenance
  Assisted with the launch, recovery, and upkeep of yachts. Gained practical experience in hull preparation, mechanical checks, and general marine maintenance.
