Work history

Sales / Operations Director

APMG Ltd
12.1994 - Current

I joined APMG Ltd full time in 1994 after completing my degree in Quantity surveying. I had worked part time since 1990. APMG are affected by seasonality, thus I was the perfect fit. In those 4 years I started work in June assembling furniture and operating machines before moving on to the installation team in July.

After completing my degree, I was asked to join full time as a project engineer. They had just secured a large project for UCL which they had nobody available to manage.

I remained in the contract department for approx. 10 years managing a whole host of projects, including several in Hong Kong & Kenya. The majority of my time was spent on the laboratory furniture side of the business but occasionally moving over to the ventilation side as large projects were secured.

I moved over to the sales side of the business in around 2004 where I initially looked after schools and colleges before taking over the commercial sales side in 2012.

This coincided with my appointment as a director. Since then, I have moved from sales to contracts depending on workload.

In the last 6 months I have also taken on the role of operations, looking after manufacturing & installation.

With APMG being a relatively small company, I have been responsible for a whole host of responsibilities over the last few years, some of which I have listed below.

· Building / managing estimating sheets in Microsoft Excel

· Preparing Quotations in Microsoft Word

· Site surveys

· Laboratory layout designs in AutoCAD

· Sales visits

· Project management

· Stock control and management

· Cost entry onto APMG production system

· Ordering materials

· Issuing work for manufacture

· Cost control and cost of sales queries

· Preparing RAMS

· Preparing O & M’s

· Managing the sales, contracts and production team
