I am a motivated and reliable young person who is looking to begin an apprenticeship in the automotive industry. I am calm under pressure with good time keeping, known for being hard working and committed in everything I do. I have a real passion for cars and would like to learn the technical skills required which will enable me to succeed in the industry. I work well in a team environment or on my own initiative and like to solve problems - something that I do consistently as a fire cadet in East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. I would like the opportunity to show what I can do and to learn from industry experts to work towards a long term career in this field. I am learning to drive and have my practical test booked within the next 2 weeks.
I am fully committed to my cadet division, based at Uckfield fire station. This involves weekly attendance and I have been involved in many community activities and awareness initiaves to support the service. These have included fundraising activities and hosting family activity days.
Public engagements have required me to contribute to fire station open days, public safety events and to attend roadshows and remembrance service parades to represent the service. Weekly sessions include drill activities, team building and fitness and working alongside the wholetime crew to increase familiarity with using specialist equipment, ladder and rescue training, scenario based activities and life skills learning, such as resuscitation. My cadet duties require me to be a good ambassador for the fire and rescue service, to demonstrate focus, commitment, discipline and integrity.
Being a cadet requires strong teamwork and I have developed my interpersonal skills in this environment and now enjoy supporting junior cadets to achieve their competencies.
