  • Senior Technical advisor for the project advising the long term strategy for the future of flood risk management in the Fens.
  • Currently leading on the Anglian Water Fens Reservoir project, Tail Sluice recovery and Capital investment projects, Great Ouse Tidal river strategy, Cranbrook and Counterdrain Strategy, Block Fen Flood alleviation Strategy and supporting the Great Ouse Capital project development pipeline.
  • Prepared proposals outlining requirements, potential solutions and required resources, timelines and costs to achieve objectives.
  • Liaison between different functions of the Environment Agency and other RMA's, local authorities and third parties.
  • I have been involved in influencing the various groups and collating technical data on the costs involved in operating and maintaining a complex area of FCRM assets with various challenges.
  • Responsible for the commercial tender assessment process and also negotiations with the various RMA's to agree apportionment of priority for all FCRM assets and systems within the scoping boundary.
  • Defining the scope and nature of the works and leading external consultants to undertake complex modelling, scoping and survey work to deliver the Fens baseline report and identify both funding allocation and look into addressing funding shortfalls under the financial guidance for funding FRCM activities.
  • Due to my expert knowledge and within Asset Performance I was chosen to act between Asset Performance and PSO in this unique advisory role. I collated data from a wide range of sources covering all workstreams involved in managing costs for EA assets in the area being studied in order to provide the external consultants with baseline data on costs and technical information for the defences and structures, as well as statutory responsibilities and obligations.

  • Flood and Coastal Risk management Enforcement officer and T98 Asset Inspector in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire Asset Performance. I was originally employed in this role as an enforcement officer covering all aspects of flood risk and reservoir enforcement activity but subsequently qualified as a T98 Asset inspector and undertook this role alongside my enforcement work.
  • Prepared presentations and represented the Environment Agency at high level meetings with partners, the RFCC, landowners and consultants.
  • Responsible for routine and incident response asset inspections for flood defences both in the Great Ouse area and nationally during major flooding events. While undertaking mutual aid I worked extensively in Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire during the 2013 and 2015 floods.
  • I managed conflicting workloads and dealing with major FCRM enforcement cases and failing assets. My work regularly involved enforcement cases between functions in the Environment Agency, other Risk Management Authorities and joint work with both Cambridgeshire and Norfolk Police, including several prosecutions.
  • I also helped the area Fisheries enforcement team with enforcement activity due to my previous role and training.
  • I mentored numerous colleagues within both my team as Asset inspectors and several enforcement colleagues from other areas.
  • Kept abreast of new law enforcement techniques and methodology, maintaining strong knowledge of emerging industry advancements.
