Affiliations

  • In my voluntary work with Way Out in Gateshead I was fortunate enough to work alongside people from a variety of backgrounds, engaging them in outward-bound activities. My most notable experience was working on a tall ship with a young women’s group. The group were predominantly vulnerable young women, some of whom were not attending school due to bullying and other factors. This was a rewarding experience for all providing activities promoting self-esteem, assertiveness, stress management, fitness and social skills. I play bass guitar in several bands which has given me the opportunity to organise and take part in national and European tours. I still play in bands and enjoy performing. I enjoy the countryside, wild swimming and birdwatching.
