From my ACC website entry:
As well as my Counselling offer, I've worked with people with Learning Disabilities, and family & carers, since 2003.
Working in a way that makes sense to each person I meet - that is what matters most.
And when nothing feels like it makes sense, we can even sit together with that.
There's a book I really like.
It's called “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse,” by Charlie Mackesy.
At one point Mole says, “I think everyone is just trying to get home.”
Later, Boy asks, “What is the bravest thing you've ever said?” “Help,” said Horse.
It may take courage to ask for help, but trying to get home is a worthwhile cause.
