I am a very caring and passionate 28 year old, who is looking for a career in what I love most.. dogs!
I am reliable, caring and dedicated to making a dog look, feel and smell amazing.
I am hoping for a position within your salon as you are one of the most well known and loved companies, I would love to be a part of the fast paced, hands on environment, working my way up the career ladder whilst loving the job.
I am currently studying to become a qualified level 2 dog groomer, So far i have learnt the correct method to bath and dry a dog, depending on coat type, skin condition etc.
i have learnt how to correctly clean ears, trim paw pads, nails and sanitary areas.
i am always carrying out health checks and making sure that the dog is safe and comfortable. Whilst on this course i have learnt the signs of an aggressive dog and avoidance signs.
i always ensure the quality of my grooming tools are all working as they should. I have changed grooming needs when grooming an older dog, i have also experience having to muzzle a dog when showing signs of aggression. I very confidently can work on my own when grooming a dog as i have done this multiple times already, but would always ask if there was something i was unsure about. I am able to work in a team when required, i can communicate with other members of staff confidently.
Here are a few dog breeds that i have groomed:
Yorkshire terriers, German shepherd's, chihuahua's, cockapoo's, Springer Spaniels, Cockerspaniels, Labradoodle's, and more.
During my work experience i was bathing and drying dogs on my own confidently and assisted during the actual groom.
I kept all areas clean and sanitized, floors were swept and mopped.
This placement helped me with learning time efficiency.
I was handling alot of anxious dogs that needed extra care or support, and always made sure the dogs needs were met safely.
I kept records (written and photo records) of anything that concerned me on the dogs skin, coat, etc.
Always ensuring i did a thorough health check on each dog, and keeping record of this and reporting anything to the salon manager.
I have had previous experience handling money and cashiers during a previous roll at store in the Telford Town Centre, i was often under pressure of a busy store which helped me learn time scales
During the college course and work experience for dog grooming i have learnt such skills as
clipper handling, hair cutting, restraint techniques, coat brushing, breed knowledge, understanding dog behaviours, scissoring techniques, canine health knowledge, being patient especially with anxious dogs, understanding the difference of grooming styles, parasite detection, ear cleaning, paw pads care, use of de-shedding tools, Good communication with owners and other staff members, hygiene maintenance and much more
Once i've finished the course i am currently doing i will be doing a Canine First Aid Course, and Level 3 dog grooming
in the Future i would like to do the Canine Dental Care course and microchipping
