Work history

CAMHS Practitioner

North Derbyshire CAMHS
Chesterfield, Derbyshire
02.2022 - 08.2025
  • My time during this placement has been split between 2 services. The Waiting Well service and Core CAMHS.
  • When I started the role, waiting times for an initial assessment where over 2 years. I initiated setting up a triage service to review all young people waiting, to ensure they still needed a service from CAMHS. This evolved into what is now the Waiting Well service and waiting times have significantly reduced. This has been a service I have been passionate about and the feedback from families has been extremely positive. Due to the reduction in waiting times the focus has been to review risk, ensuring young people are prioritised for an assessment where needed. Part of this role has included the training of staff as the service developed.
  • My role in Core CAMHS focuses on completing initial assessments, risk assessments, holding a case load and completing relevant preliminary assessments for referrals for neurodevelopmental assessments and psychiatric assessments. Most of the work within core CAMHS has been direct work with neurodivergent young people and their families with a comorbid mental health disorder requiring therapy or medication. Other duties include being part of the duty rota and offering support to the Urgent Care Team.

CAMHS Social Worker
