I am hoping for the opportunity to work in a school as a teaching assistant. I have worked in early years education for 7 years, but I am hoping to transfer my experience and skill set into a school environment. I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individual. My positive attitude and willingness to learn are often recognised. I am a very friendly and approachable person with a passion for educating young people. I am always keen to learn new skills and use the many skills i already possess, in order to complete tasks at a high standard. I have worked with children that have complex needs, using different strategies to cater for their individual needs.
In my current role I have enjoyed adapting to the new environment and interacting with different children and staff. I have gained so much confidence recently, eventually applying for a degree to build on my knowledge of early years. I work around this setting and university, this gives me the opportunity to continue learning and growing as an individual to provide the best practice to children as possible. I have a passion for child development, witnessing each child progress during their journey with me. It is such a rewarding and heartwarming feeling to acknowledge my small part in their growth. I am now determined to transfer my skills into a school setting to develop even further.
During my transition to Rosedene Hemlington, they adopted their new pedagogical approach of ‘The Curiosity Approach’. This major change encouraged us to adjust how we delivered education to children, transferring into a more child led approach. It consisted of encouraging young minds to have creative freedom, and removing restrictions to their learning. Although this resulted in me altering a chunk of what I had already learned, I relaxed into the vision and found myself excited by new challenges.
After a year of experience at Rosedene Ormesby I had the opportunity to gain a promotion from nursery nurse to pre school room leader. I appreciated the challenge and experience I achieved from this role. The responsibility grew with me recording numbers each week, ensuring I book in all funded and paying customers. We had school runs up to 4 times a day, each morning I set up a system to inform other staff in my room the planned day ahead regarding school runs, dinners and other messages. Baselines, assessments and observations were completed to a high standard, I also check monthly that the other staff in my room have completed their paper work to ensure everything Is up to date. During my time at the nursery I worked with many other outside professionals for further support for our children for example- inclusion teams, speech and language, health visitors, CAMS and occupational therapists. I would work in partnership with these professionals, exchanging information about specific children and gaining strategies to use in setting.
After completing my apprenticeship I gained the qualification required to fulfil my role as a Nursery nurse. My responsibilities continued, but with more opportunities and roles to ensure I worked with other members of the team to create an effective working environment and team. Encouraging independence was a key focus during my time in the preschool room at Rosedene Ormesby. We Practised school readiness to encourage the children to gain confidence in new environments and self confidence in their own abilities. order for them to learn new skills to help them cope in adulthood. During this time I started to experience working with children with a range of special educational needs. I learned how to cater to the individual needs of the children with additional, building communication and a learning environment that suited them. On many occasions i had been the child's one-one during their attendance, gaining a solid relationship with each child.
I started working At Rosedene Ormesby in June 2015 as an Apprentice Nursery Nurse. My responsibilities included attending to children’s needs and creating a stimulating environment to support their developmental milestones. I would learn from the qualified and experienced staff on how to progress as a nursery nurse in order to deliver the most effective practice. During this learning period I gained confidence to interact with caregivers to communicate key information about the children and how I can personally cater to their individual needs. Additionally, I would set up stimulating activities that would give children the opportunity to use their imagination to learn through play. Following on from working days, I would complete work from home provided by an apprenticeship assessor. She would assess my work every month based on written work, observations and knowledge. I completed my Level 3 in early years education in September 2016, from this i gained the desired qualification enabling me to start my new role as a Nursery Nurse.
