I'm Chelsea, 28, a compassionate and dedicated care professional with experience as a Support Worker and currently working as a Personal Care Assistant. I love making a difference in individuals' lives and have a proven ability to provide person-centred care, create safe and supportive environments, and promote independence.
In my current role, I support a visually impaired client and her young child, assisting with daily tasks, child development, and enabling my client to live life to the fullest despite her disability. My previous experience as a Support Worker has equipped me with the skills to work with a wide range of clients in diverse care settings.
Reliable, adaptable, and motivated by a genuine passion for helping others, I hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. I am now seeking a Support Worker role where I can bring my skills, experience, and enthusiasm to continue making a meaningful impact.
As a support worker at Aspire, I provided personalised support to adults with learning disabilities and challenging needs. I assisted with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management, to ensure that individuals received the care they needed to maintain their health and safety.
I worked closely with professionals to develop and implement care plans tailored to the individual's needs. Additionally, I organised social and recreational activities to encourage community engagement and help individuals develop their social skills. I also maintained accurate records of their progress and incidents, ensuring compliance with care standards and regulations.
I provided support to a gentleman living with Multiple Sclerosis. My responsibilities included maintaining cleanliness in his living space, accompanying him on outings, assisting with meal preparation, and computer tasks, as well as ensuring he took his medication on time.
In addition to these tasks, I was also responsible for personal care, which involved assisting with daily hygiene routines and ensuring comfort and dignity during dressing and bathing. He required an overhead tracking hoist to help with his mobility, which I operated with care and precision to ensure his safety.
I provided care to a 23-year-old woman with Mitochondrial Disease. As a wheelchair user, she required assistance with various daily tasks, including eating, dressing, taking her medication, and personal hygiene. I used an overhead tracking hoist to ensure her comfort and safety during transfers, which allowed her to maintain dignity and independence.
I focused on enhancing her quality of life and empowering her to engage in activities she loves. We explored accessible places like Herd Farm and Lightwater Valley, and enjoyed a week at a lodge where she could participate in zip-lining and climbing which was accessible. These experiences not only brought joy to the individual but also allowed me to develop strong skills in adaptive care, problem-solving, and creative planning to ensure her enjoyment and safety.
I believe that despite her challenges, she deserves to live life to the fullest, and I am proud to have contributed to her happiness and well-being during our time together.
I provided care for a lady, who was living with Alzheimer's disease. This experience required me to develop strong patience and empathy. I assisted her with essential daily activities, including showering, dressing, makeup, and hair, while ensuring she took her medications and used her inhaler at the appropriate times. In addition to personal care, I performed light cleaning around the house to maintain a welcoming environment for the next caregiver. I also took joy in preparing her meals and cups of tea, which she loved while relaxing. Caring for Jean enhanced my skills in communication, adaptability, and teamwork. Unfortunately, I had to discontinue my support in April when her condition worsened, leading to her transition into a nursing home. It was a difficult farewell, especially as she passed away a few months later. This experience has profoundly shaped my understanding of compassionate care for individuals with dementia.
