My role as an AMD Specialist Nurse/Regional lead consisted of working on a Macular Mobile Unit, which travelled to different areas within the Yorkshire area, and I would independently run Macular clinics.
The role included examining new and follow up patients to determine whether they have WAMD/ DMO/ VO's and if so, I would then liaise with the Consultant remotely and they would provide a management plan and if treatment was required, I would then go through this with the patient and start their treatment on the same day, which would involve giving the patient an Intravitreal injection.
We were equipped with all the local policies and guidelines should we need to refer to them on the mobile unit.
My role also consisted of line managing 2 employees, carrying out 1-2-1's/ PDR's, managing sickness etc.
