I am a hardworking and committed Student with strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities and am able to work effectively as part of a team. I have also developed leadership skills through my Duke of Edinburgh volunteering and Sports Leaders course. I am able to remain calm under pressure, am adaptable to change and open to new challenges. I work well both individually and as part of a team.
In this volunteer role I assisted the pack leader at weekly Beaver meetings for a period of 16 weeks. During this time I assisted with activity planning for the weekly sessions with the aim of creating sessions that were engaging, fun and safe for the children. I also assisted the children in work towards them earning badges and developing team work skills in their groups.
At all times I was responsible, alongside the other leaders for safety during activities and ensuring the children were supervised at all times.
This role allowed me to develop communication skills and learn to adapt communication to suit the needs of younger children. It also developed my leadership skills and patience when working with younger children.
My organisational skills were also used to ensure I was on time for the sessions.
