From a young age I have aspired to become a veterinarian, motivated by my love of animals and my personal experiences in researching and caring for sick pets. I am pursuing GCSEs in triple science, higher Spanish, higher maths, English, religious education, geography, and health and fitness to establish a solid academic foundation for future veterinary studies. I am a dedicated individual with experience in the scouting community, having earned the Gold Scout Award and currently acting as a young leader. I utilize my leadership skills by guiding younger members through character-building activities. I am actively involved in the Army Cadet Force and various sports, including football, rugby, and netball. I have worked at Godden green stables on Saturdays since I was 13, proving my strong work ethic and commitment to animal care.
My duties include: preparing horses ready for turn out in the correct gear varying on the weather, putting any creams or powder on before they go out. I check for anything unusual e.g cuts, swelling or different behavioural patterns all of the horses are different with different needs.
After turnout, I muck out, making sure each stable is cleaned to a good standard, clean buckets and fill with fresh water. Leaving them with a comfy bed for the night.
Once completed I bring in the horses, pick out their feet, change rugs if need be and check again for any cuts, scratches and swelling. Once each horse is mucked out, I sweep the yard and throughout the day move it to the muck heap. I am always happy to help the liveries with anything they need.
