Work history

Year 6 Teacher, Art, History and Oracy Lead

Copthorne Primary School
Bradford, West Yorkshire
01.2014 - 01.2026

I started my teaching journey at Copthorne, training as part of the SCITT programme with my first placement within the school. I felt a real sense of comradery amongst the staff members and my journey was fully supported by nurturing and supportive colleagues. After my training year, I decided to apply for a full-time post at Copthorne as I had been so overwhelmed by the children's innate ability to learn and passion to expand their own knowledge. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to share and develop my knowledge within the school and I look forward to seeing what the future holds, whilst I continue my journey. I have helped to develop engaging lesson plans by applying knowledge of educational theories and methods, as well as developing the curriculum with a group of colleagues. I have boosted students' reading comprehension with creative teaching strategies, especially within my three years of working within Year 6 - ensuring that children achieved well in the KS2 SAT's hitting and exceeding targets that had been set. I have worked closely with colleagues for implementing cross-curricular projects that engaged students in comprehensive learning experiences.
