Seasonal Sales Assistant/ Stock Room Manager

Papyrus

  • I first worked on the shop floor helping and serving customers and filling shelves to keep the shop floor looking smart. I was then promoted and, in 18/19, supervised stock intake to a pop-up shop, ensured effective communication between the shop floor and the stockroom, supervised two staff as well as keeping a communication flow with suppliers. This provided me with supervisory skills and was a test of my organisational, communication and administrative skills.

  • Having graduated with an honours degree in Psychology I worked in Sri Lanka for three months on voluntary placement. I and my colleagues led arts, craft and music therapies in schools, half-way houses and children's homes as well as working in the mental health hospital in Colombo. We also taught English in communities which unable to gain access to this type of service. This was a fabulous experience allowing me to see the country, meet a vast range of people and has left me with a lasting network of colleagues who shared this experience with me.

Seasonal - Chef/ Bartender

The Jolly Judge

  • I worked alone in the kitchen developing menus, serving and catering for special diets. During August 16, due to the significant increase in customers because of the Fringe festival, time management and thinking on my feet was essential. I also worked the bar at night. This involved working with colleagues and the general public, often having to engage with those who were not behaving as they should. This was good experience for dealing with difficult situations.

Seasonal - Domestic staff

  • Cleaned the Glasgow Caledonian student halls during the summer period when they are commercially let to the general public as holiday accommodation.
