After education, I joined the Merchant Navy for 10 years as a stewardess onboard English ferry routes around Europe. This experience gave me a strong foundation in customer service, safety procedures, and working effectively as part of a team as well as individually.
In the last 25 years, I have worked as a nursing auxiliary and a senior support worker in general, mental and military hospitals, rehabilitation units, and supported living in the community. These roles have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate with empathy, and support people from all backgrounds with professionalism and care.
Giving all aspects of care and emotional support for my father who had multiple health issues.
Providing administrative support on a temporary basis. Duties included policy updates and making enquiries for further housing rentals.
Responsible for care and safety of patients with complex difficulties in various settings. Duties included implementing care plans, administrating medication, and monitoring changes in health and mood, while liaising with families and healthcare professionals.
Providing a high standard of service to ensure comfort, satisfaction, and safety of passengers. Primarily responsible for duty free perfume and gift shop. Duties included sales and ordering, stock taking, and complying with Customs and Excise regulations. I assisted with meal preparation, setting tables, and serving food and drink in restaurants, cafes, and bar, and comprehensive knowledge of emergency drills, including Basic Sea Survival, fire and first aid. When Condor Ferries launched its first catamaran in UK waters, I was part of the promotional team. I also gained specialist training by airline management for customer service for this role.
