Dr Catherine Farrow

• I lead the Multidisciplinary CMHT in assessing and managing a large caseload of patients with severe and enduring mental health problems. Most patients are complex and have a range of disorders from Schizophrenia to Treatment Resistant Depression to Complex PTSD and Adult ADHD and Autism.
• I am Responsible Clinician for upto 10 patients on Community Treatment Orders and Supervising Consultant for MOJ Sections, requiring regular Medicolegal reporting. I sometimes carry out Prison Assessments.
• I work alongside Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and a host of support staff to provide efficient and holistic diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illness. Part of my role is Psychoeducation and Patient-led decision making, with Carer involvement wherever possible.
• I have excellent communication skills as highlighted by my regular 360 degree Appraisal Feedback reports.
• I see patients in a variety of settings: Outpatient Clinics, Mental Health Act Assessments, Home Visits and in the General Hospital.
• I participate regularly in the On Call Rota providing advice to Medical and other frontline clinicians on S136 assessments, emergency assessments in A+E and in the Community.
• Supervision of Resident Doctors and Staff Grade Dr.

• Consultant Input to Adult CMHT in Dagenham and Barking plus:
• Consultant Lead for Borough-wide Early Intervention Services for FEP 14-35yrs. Joint assessment with Psychology for most cases, early treatment of ARMS and Psychosis and dedicated Forensic Supervision for enhanced Risk Assessments.

• Consultant Input to CMHT managing patients with severe and enduring mental illness.
• Consultant Input to Acute Inpatient Unit at Springwell Centre, Barnet. Chairing newly implemented 72-hour formulation meetings.
• Consultant Liaison Service to patients referred by Barnet General Hospital.
• Two sessions weekly for the newly established Primary Care Mental Health Team including assessment of new referrals from GP’s, Acute Care Services and Social services and joint assessment of complex cases with psychology colleagues. Additional role was improving relationship with GP’s and establishing care pathways.

• On call responsibilities for adult, old age psychiatry and PICU.
• MHA assessments in various settings – A+E, Police stations, wards.
• Participation in local Academic Programmes including Case Presentations and Journal Clubs.
• Participation in local Audit programmes.
• Attendance at the Barts Monthly Academic Meeting.

• Furthered experience and understanding of Enhanced, Multidisciplinary Risk Assessment for women with Severe Personality Disorders.
• Undertook supervised, brief individual therapies.
• Experience working within a Private Service alongside NHS Services.
