Volunteer Experience

Hospital Volunteer, Perth Children's Hospital, Nedlands 2023

  • Assist patients and their families at the Concierge, offering directions and assistance where needed.
  • Coordinate with outpatient clinics and assist patients and families to check in for their appointments.
  • Communicate with nursing staff on the wards, to supervise unaccompanied children, or assist where needed. Give families some rest bite during the shift by playing and reading with the children.
  • Assist nursing staff in the emergency department to console parents, providing tea and coffee, and a listening ear. Help to distract children with activities if they are able to partake.
  • Work alongside medical teams in Pre-op to take family members from the Theatre to the family waiting rooms. Collecting details to call and assist parents back to recovery once the patient is ready.
