Cameron Lewis Meakes

I worked as a general camp counselor through the camp america program in Maine last summer and will be again for summer 2026. It was an amazing experience and made me realize i have a passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge and skills with the younger generations. Through this program i gained valuable skills and knowledge about working with children such as :

• Overseeing camper safety during adventurous activities including swimming , archery and bushcraft ensuring all safety protocols were followed and understood.
• I was trained in first aid techniques and lifeguard training to handle basic or emergency situations efficiently.
• Improved camper's social interaction skills by using rules and ideas in games in order to include everybody and improving confidence.

Currently i work as the coordinator and labourer on site strip outs for a shop fitting company. My roles and responsibilities are:

• Dismantling and removing all the standing structures from the store safely and in the allocated time frame.
• Liaise with different companies in order to remove everything that they need to get back from the closing down store.Therefore requiring great communication skills to coordinate tasks effectively.
• Furthermore i have to make sure everyone on site has the correct health and safety training and equipment in order to keep everyone safe.

I worked at seasonal angling coaching events that Hull and district angling association created to give the opportunity for children in the local area to learn the skill of fishing. Through this experience i obtained skills such as:

• Learning how to work with children with difficult tendencies and adjusting ways to teach and assist them in order to deliver an informative and understandable lesson.
• Working with larger groups and being able to share my attention and help evenly throughout the session.
