Company Overview: Support Worker (community) Complex Needs in Children
Whilst working at blue bird. This role has involved working within palliative care, comforting clients in their last moments.
As well as this, I have worked with young children living with complex needs, giving them the opportunity to live a normal life and supporting them through their ADL, attending sensory centres across Greater Manchester.
This has required me to be extremely flexible as most clients have very specific needs.
My work duties at Blue Bird include school drop offs, companionship calls and creating care plans for new/existing clients which helps to support general day to day tasks.
This job was extremely challenging and has set me up for my career in the NHS.

During the first and second lockdown, I worked in various support roles at the NHS Nightingale hospital in an acute COVID-19 ward as well as in intermediate rehabilitation settings.
As a porter and cleaner, I assisted with the admissions and discharge of patients, cleaned wards and toilets for infection control purposes and washed uniforms for my team.
Whilst I progressed into a more patient focused care role, I assisted patients with personal cares, mobilising, providing food and given general overall holistic care to patients which may just need a chat and a hot drink, whilst keeping in line with dietary requirements, completing documentation such as property logs, and reporting to patient relatives about their progress and update.
This experience working in an intense, patient-focused role with other lead nurses has ignited my passion to learn more about patient care with the hopes of one day becoming a senior Nurse.
