In Broodstock it is quite a diverse role which I’ve been able to fit into very well with having experience in other parts of the business unit, I spent several months at sea feeding the fish, doing swim throughs, mortality removals and various other jobs. I have completed 2 successful seasons producing eggs for Mowi, first at a site near Lochgilphead where I had to stay away from home for several weeks at a time demonstrating my flexibility and willingness to make things work. At this site we had to do a lot of problem solving and quick thinking to be able to get the various jobs completed we managed to produce around 2 million eggs at this site. In 2024 we managed to produce around 20 million green eggs successfully and have gained many skills in RAS systems. I have good understand and training at most Broodstock operations.

• Looking after fish and general husbandry, setting up in operations (grading operations, vaccination, cam lock pipe work, pumps, etc), general site cleanliness and also helping out a recirculation facility (Inchmore Hatchery). I was also the fish health advisor, this involved going to in house seminars about the various aspects of fish biology and health aspects, this required me to do weekly checks on the fish, internal and external. During my years here I developed a good understanding of the site, various common issues and practiced doing things in the correct order and or being well organised to be as efficient as possible.

• Maintaining the boat deck, keeping it tidy, safe and clean
• Using winches, capstan and crane for operations
• Transportation of company equipment, fuel transfers, towing, watchkeeping and assisting fish farms with their duties

• Stacking boxes of various fish from fishing boats onto palettes for export

• Deck Boss, Crabbing, whelking, dredging, splicing, making bushropes and working the hauler
• I have also done some prawn trawling which involved tailing prawns, using winches and taking watch

• General assisting, pulling cables, wiring lights, sockets, switches etc, Occasionally operating cherry picker
• Using a computer to create and print labels

• Commis Chef and Kitchen porter, preparing dishes and when busy washing plates
