  • I have worked on several projects with young people from different social backgrounds.
  • I also worked on the street with PCSP (Police and Community Safety Partnership), which is aimed at tackling anti-social behaviours displayed by young people in high-risk areas.
  • I would engage with the young people to build relationships while offering advice and guidance to help them make the right decision to try and prevent police involvement, but I would also have the confidence to use my judgment to involve the police where the situation arose.
  • I would also deliver programs to help reduce these behaviours, including:
  • BEE Project - whereby I would go into schools and teach ICT in an afterschool club.
  • Delivery of OCN NI levels 1 and 2 with youth groups and young people within Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre.
  • The Life Maps program is delivered to youth groups and young people in association with the PCSP and Flex Housing Association. Life Maps is geared towards creating more awareness about mental health and offering advice as to what to do if a person feels that they or someone they know is in crisis.

  • My role as a carer was to help them dress, brush their teeth, use the bathroom, feed, monitor portion control, serve their food, shower, and shave.
  • My role as a drama and dance teacher was to teach them how to listen to instructions and follow instructions through doing dance routines while making the experience fun.

  • Using a variety of techniques to de-escalate volatile situations.
  • Supervising, managing, and controlling campers in a safe and secure environment.
  • How to respond effectively to inappropriate behaviors.

  • Dealing with incidents as they occur and working as part of a team to resolve the issues, including administering first aid.
