  • I worked as a clinic supervisor initially, in the Oncology department at Guy's Hospital in London, supervising a small team in the Cancer Services unit and organising clinics in liaison with clinical professionals in the Oncology department. This involved arranging appointments for patients, work closely with consultants and also working front of house in the clinic involving face to face contact with patients and their families. I later moved the the 2 Week Wait team arranging appointments for patients requiring urgent cancer treatment.

  • I worked in various roles during my 21 years service, starting with an administrative role in the then National Identification Bureau of the Criminal Records Office, progressing to roles in the Public Order Unit and the Criminal Justice Unit at Marylebone Police Station working with Police files relating to criminal prosecutions at court and subsequently the Westminster borough Traffic Unit dealing with prosecutions for road traffic offences. I subsequently spent six years on secondment to my trade union as an elected official representing trade union members and working in the Trade Union Side office dealing with contractual negotiations on behalf of our members, I was made redundant in January 2011 as part of a large round of redundancies for members of Police Staff at that time.
