  • In 2019 my family and I decided to have a complete lifestyle change relocating to Dumfries. As a sonographer with this trust I have continued to carry out and report all aspects of general ultrasound, AAA screening programme, gynaecology, paediatrics, obstetrics, DVT, small parts and necks.

PERSONAL INTERESTS.

Most of my free time is spent enjoying outdoor activities with my husband and children particularly walking and camping in various areas of the UK., I have an active interest in ice hockey being a season ticket holder and following the sport throughout the UK., I enjoy music, concerts, cinema, cooking and the theatre., I also have a very active social life with a wide circle of family and friends.

ADDITIONAL ROLES:

  • August 2005- April 2019. I worked for a private company in Nottingham on a regular basis carrying out 3D and 4D obstetric social ultrasound scans.
  • June 2006- Dec 2007. I worked for a private fertility clinic on a regular basis carrying out transvaginal gynaecological and follicular tracking scans.
  • Sept 2006 – Sept 2008. In this time I undertook the role of visiting guest lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University whereby I lectured on the Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound course. I covered aspects of obstetric ultrasound including early pregnancy complications and third trimester scanning.
  • Nov 2008 – July 2011. I had the role of training co-ordinator for the ultrasound team whereby I actively encouraged and organised CPD for both sonographers and clinical assistants. I played an involved role in conducting initial practical assessments for sonographers new to the team and assisting in any additional training required. I was responsible for ensuring all staff were up to date with mandatory training. Through this role in November 2009 I organised and presented at a national study day for ultrasound assistants which was very successful.
  • These additional roles have provided me with invaluable skills both practically and logistically. They have helped me gain an insight into working in the private sector and an understanding of the differences compared to the NHS.
