I am currently an 18 year old student at Runshaw College studying a Btec in business however I have had a wide variety of experience in a range of different roles.
Throughout 3 years I voluntarily worked in Katherine's office intermittently dealing with a wide range of things which involved aspects of casework and the use of relevant IT systems.
It involved observing and taking a direct role in helping develop community relations in regards to an MP's role whether that was with groups like the NFU to groups representing BAME or other minorities.
A large part of the role was also about ensuring timely replies to casework and liaising with fellow team members to ensure that the Westminster office was also in lockstep with those on the constituency side of things.
At the Lancashire Archives I had first hand experience in the handling and preservation of Historical documents and the processes which this entailed from restoration right through to storage as all of these aspects are tightly controlled when it came to documents of historical and cultural importance.
I was taught the aspects of keeping an organized and tidy work space due to the limited office space and close proximity to former colleagues.
I also learnt the process of managing an inventory of items, in the Archives case these were documents and sometimes items which were kept and regularly checked which I played a role in.
