I am a keen individual with a strong work ethic who has developed a versatile managerial skillset from my experience working at Aldi for the past 4 years. I entered the retail industry aged 16, starting out as a store assistant during the Covid 19 pandemic alongside my AS levels. During this spell, stakeholders were impressed by my maturity and professionalism at a young age, stating they saw strong managerial traits and a gift for organizing and communicating with diverse ranges of people. Aldi offered me the chance to undertake the level 3 retail team leader qualification as an apprentice. Unsure of my career aspirations and the uncertainty surrounding Covid, I accepted the offer and my ambition to succeed and develop my skills grew further. At 17 I began the three year course as a trainee manager starting from the bottom upwards, now recently qualified achieving a distinction grade in August 2023.
I was under the age of 18, acting undercover buying age restricted products such as alcohol, cigarettes and knives, testing license holders to see if they complied with legislation. I worked directly alongside Derbyshire constabulary. Prior to visiting premises we participated in team briefings outlining the objectives and duties. This opportunity arose from being in the Derbyshire Police cadets.
