Work history

Warehouse Operater

Amazon
Darlington, North Yorkshire
09.2020 - Current

During my time at Amazon, these are the many roles i have been required to do, as well as the skills i have developed.

  • Operation of conveyor belts ensured timely sorting of packages.
  • Communicated effectively with supervisors, improving overall workflow.
  • Frequently meeting productivity targets to ensure customer orders are met.
  • Verified contents of shipments against invoices for accuracy assurance.
  • Extensive experience with pump trucks and PIT experience.

I also have a lot of experience being a Proxy Team Lead in my Team Leader's absence, which would involve me managing and leading a team of up to 50 employees and ensuring we all achieve our daily targets. Some of the roles and skills I have learned from that include:

  • Delegating tasks to employees to ensure the shift runs smoothly.
  • Frequent monitoring of daily productivity rates to ensure we remain on track to achieve our end of shift target.
  • Frequently communicating with employees regarding any potential issues or barriers they may face during their shift and offering support where possible to help them through this.
  • Leading contingency measures when there is a mechanical fault to ensure customer orders are not impacted.
  • Daily shift reports to my Area Manager displaying lots of helpful data and bridging any problems/issues that arose during the shift.

As well as this, I have participated in a 'Kaizen' event which is what Amazon describe as an event which intends to bring new ideas/ways of working that will bring long term benefits to company and its employees. The 'Kaizen' event I was part of helps to reduce the workload of employees on what Amazon call 'Indirect Roles.' So far, this work in progress project has brought many significant benefits to reduce the workload for those employees.
