Summary

My roles at Arriva London, have enabled me to gain practical legal experience by supporting internal investigations and workplace case handling. Starting as a volunteer with the workers’ union, I assisted employees—often facing language or procedural barriers—in navigating disciplinary processes. I advocated for fair treatment, clarified policies, and represented their concerns in meetings, developing early client-facing and advocacy skills.

Recognised for this work, I joined the HR team, where I contributed to cases involving discrimination, harassment, and misconduct. I supported evidence gathering, drafted internal memos and emails, and ensured procedures were followed accurately and confidentially. This gave me a strong foundation in employment law, safeguarding, and internal governance processes.

As a Controller, I also managed service redirection during major events, including football matchdays and trophy parades across North London. These scenarios demanded real-time decision-making, operational oversight, and coordination with emergency services and external agencies—skills directly transferable to legal environments that require composure, accuracy, and clear communication under pressure.

These combined roles have strengthened my interest in the legal profession and built skills aligned with legal positional responsibilities. Now entering my final year at the University of East Anglia, I’m seeking to apply this experience knowledge within a legal team that values hard work and professionalism.
