Summary

An experienced and values-driven senior school leader with a strong track record of leading transformational improvement within a complex inner-London secondary school environment. Currently Senior Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead at Holland Park School, where I have played a central role in the school's journey from Ofsted Inadequate and Special Measures to securing Exceptional judgements for Behaviour and Attendance and Leadership and Governance.

I combine strategic leadership with substantial operational experience, leading the day-to-day running of the school as Head of School for three days each week in the absence of the Executive Principal, Dame Sally Coates. My leadership experience spans outcomes and achievement, culture and behaviour, safeguarding, inclusion, staffing, finance, attendance and whole-school operations, alongside extensive work with governors, parents, local authorities and external partners. I lead whole-school outcomes and achievement strategy across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, with a particular focus on raising standards, improving consistency and ensuring all pupils, regardless of background, are supported to achieve ambitious outcomes.

I care deeply about building ambitious, inclusive school communities where high standards are matched by warmth, integrity and strong relationships. At Holland Park, I have helped establish a calm and purposeful culture alongside significant improvements in outcomes, attendance, reputation and community confidence. Since 2022, the school has moved from being undersubscribed to receiving over 1,400 applications for 240 Year 7 places, despite a declining local population.

Alongside school leadership, I have developed and led a cross-borough partnership involving nine schools focused on inclusion, safeguarding and behaviour support, reflecting my belief that schools have an important responsibility not only to their own pupils, but also to the wider communities they serve.

I am an intellectually curious and reflective leader, committed to educational excellence, strong pastoral care and the development of young people who are confident, compassionate and well prepared to contribute positively to society.

Skills

Leading School Transformation
I joined Holland Park School when it was judged Inadequate and in Special Measures Since then, I have played a significant role in the school's transformation, helping to establish the culture, systems and expectations that led to Ofsted judging Leadership and Governance, and Behaviour and Attendance, as Exceptional The work has required absolute consistency, clarity of vision and a relentless focus on getting the basics right every single day

Executive Leadership Experience
As Senior Deputy Headteacher, I effectively lead the school as Head of School for three days each week when the Executive Principal, Dame Sally Coates, is not on site This involves overseeing the day-to-day running of a large secondary school and sixth form, including staffing, safeguarding, behaviour, attendance, parental matters and operational decision-making It has given me extensive experience balancing strategic leadership with the realities of running a busy school community

Financial and Staffing Leadership
When I took on the Deputy Headteacher role, the school was carrying a deficit budget of over £250,000 Alongside wider school improvement work, I helped lead a careful programme of financial recovery through strategic staffing decisions, tighter operational oversight and disciplined budget management, ultimately moving the school into a surplus position of approximately £150,000 whilst continuing to improve outcomes for pupils

Culture and Behaviour
A large part of my leadership has centered around building a calm, purposeful and respectful culture where pupils understand that high standards matter I believe strongly that excellent behaviour is not about compliance alone, but about creating an environment where pupils feel safe, known and able to succeed The culture at Holland Park is something I am deeply proud to have helped build

Inclusion and Pastoral Leadership
I have extensive experience leading inclusion and pastoral systems within a diverse inner-London school community Much of my work has focused on ensuring that vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND and significant social or emotional barriers, are supported effectively without lowering expectations I care deeply about making sure schools remain ambitious for every child

Safeguarding Leadership
As Designated Safeguarding Lead, I oversee safeguarding strategy and practice across the school This includes managing complex cases, working closely with external agencies and ensuring safeguarding remains central to the culture of the organisation rather than simply a compliance exercise I believe strong safeguarding is built on visibility, trust and professional curiosity

Relationship Building and External Partnerships
A significant part of my role has involved building strong relationships with parents, governors, local authorities, external agencies and other schools I have worked closely with governors throughout the school's improvement journey and have helped strengthen the school's reputation and standing within the local community In 2022, the school was undersubscribed We now receive more than 1,400 applications for 240 Year 7 places, with waiting lists exceeding 250 pupils in each year group despite a declining local population I have also developed and led a partnership network involving nine schools across three London boroughs, focused on inclusion, behaviour support and safeguarding collaboration, helping strengthen relationships between schools and improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils

Operational Leadership and Systems Thinking
I enjoy building systems that make schools function effectively and sustainably Over time, I have developed and refined systems linked to behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, staffing and accountability which have strengthened consistency across the school and allowed leaders to intervene quickly and intelligently where support is needed

Relationships and Community
One of the aspects of leadership I value most is building strong relationships with staff, pupils, parents and external partners I am comfortable dealing with difficult conversations and high-pressure situations, but I also believe schools work best when people feel listened to, respected and treated with honesty I have worked hard to build credibility and trust across the communities I serve
