Responsible for the daily management of the operational workforce at Manchester Airport (MAN), including both direct and supply chain resources.
Allied Infrastructure deliver a wide variety of works at MAN, which is the business' largest and most significant client. Core works include: reactive repairs, cyclical maintenance, asphalt re-surfacing, replacement of PQ concrete bays, and others. In addition to our core "airside" works, Allied are regularly engaged to deliver "landside" works, which include aspects as highways works and car park construction.
All works have to be delivered in a fast-paced and operationally challenging environment. I work with our Supervisors to ensure that works are delivered within the limited possession windows granted by the client I also liaise with the wider business to ensure that aspects such as Security Passes are in place,
In my capacity as Construction Manager, my key responsibilities include:
Management of multiple teams of joiners, steel fixers and groundworks gangs on a complex and high-profile scheme which formed part of the HS2 Main Works Civils Contracts (MWCCs). Key scope elements included: the construction of tunnel slurry treatment plant FRC, bulk earthworks, MSV locomotive route, segment storage and precast yard.
In my role as a General Foreman, I was responsible for:
Management of multiple teams of operatives and plant carrying out: drainage, road widening and re-construction, modular concrete structures, bulk excavation, PT15 carriageway construction, lay-by and Emergency Recovery Area (ERA) construction. Duties included:
Management of a team of men and plant carrying out: box dig and road construction, construction of a new and upgraded junctions, drainage, service ducting, kerbing and flagging, structural concrete forming and pouring. Duties included:
Management of teams of men carrying out: bulk excavation and muck-away, carriageway construction, piling, drainage, ducting and traffic-signal systems, retaining walls, reinforced concrete structures.
Managing teams of men installing reinforced concrete foundations and slabs, drainage and drainage connections on public roads, Works on public carriageway to haul-roads and sewers on commercial developments.
Managing gangs installing: drainage and manholes, piling platforms, construction of new road and junction, RC perimeter beams, slabs, pile caps, service and street-light ducting.
Managing and working within a team of operatives undertaking civil work under Personal Track Safety (PTS) conditions. This included: kerbing & flagging, pouring and finishing concrete, shuttering, timber hoardings and fencing.
Managing and working within a team of men installing drainage, new roads, footways and driveways etc. on a new build housing development.
My duties included: operating plant to dig drainage and road boxes, laying kerbs and flags, hand laying Tarmac to foot ways and drives, installing road gullies and associated drainage and manholes, pouring concrete for foundations, and building road and pavement formations.
I was also responsible for giving daily briefings, recording daily dairy, recording day works and timesheets.
