Work history

Sales assistant

Peter Jacksons Jewellers
Preston, Lancashire
08.2015 - 07.2016

At Peter Jackson's jewellers I was expected to assist customers by providing a high level of service. As a Sales assistant I would be required to answer product related questions and give expert answers. This was an essential part of the job as each employee had coursework and work books to complete which allowed us to advise and complete sales. Furthermore, in each quarter we would have assessment days where we would be brought together to work as a team on team based activities which encouraged team spirit etc These days were also used to educate us on new items. As an employee of a Jewellers I acted and dressed respectively. During my time here I managed my own display section in which I kept tidy and organised. This role was challenging as I we had to meet personal sales targets and store sale targets so the pressure was always on. In addition to this the hours were a compulsory 50 hours a week.

My position as Peter Jackson's was temporary as I was covering a staff member who was on maternity leave. However, as my first proper job I learnt a lot from this role and the role benefited me as a person to become the employee I am today

Waitress

Seniors fish bar and grill
Lytham St Annes, Lancashire
06.2016 - 09.2017

I worked full time hours which ranged between 35 - 50 hours a week. Seniors is an award winning restaurant with intense protocols and standards towards Hygiene and customer satisfaction and it was my job to ensure and maintain that the restaurant was immaculate and that customer were well attended to. As a passionate and determined individual my hard work was noticed and I was promoted to team leader in January 2017. This promotion gave me new responsibility and authority and allowed me to lead the resturant staff on a daily basis. I feel like I was an effective employee as I always encouraged team work and I dealt with problems appropriately. I left Seniors on good terms and and they fully supported me moving to Manchester to study at University

Student

Manchester Metropolitan University
09.2017 - 06.2020

I studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and was award a 2:1 Degree in Education Studies. After my time studying I welcomed my first daughter, this was unfortunately met with the start of the covid pandemic and so it only made sense to stay home for a while before looking at work.

Waitress

The Ship Inn
Preston, Lancashire
07.2021 - 04.2023

I worked part time at the ship whilst balancing life as a first time mum, i thourougly enjoyed my time working here and had many roles and really became part of a lovely team. I

  • Demonstrated excellent multitasking abilities for timely delivery of orders.
  • Enhanced guest satisfaction through attentive and prompt service.
  • Advanced team efficiency by assisting in training new waitstaff members.
  • Ensured compliance with health regulations through effective cleaning practices in the dining area.
  • Maintained clean and organised dining area for customer comfort.

and many more, I left the ship looking for a job with more social hours and was fully supported in my decision by my lovely managers an co-workers.

Nursery practitioner

Chuckles childcare
Preston, Lancashire
04.2023 - 08.2025

This role was my first job working with children in this capacity, I had previously done volunteer work at nurseries and placements during school so I had a lot to learn when I first started, I really enjoyed this role and felt that throughout my time here i:

  • Assessed individual learning needs of each child; tailored teaching methods accordingly.
  • Planned educational activities to stimulate cognitive growth in toddlers.
  • Cultivated positive relationships with parents and carers; kept them informed about their child's achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Provided support during meal times, encouraging balanced diets for better health.
  • Ensured a safe, nurturing environment for children through consistent supervision and careful monitoring of play areas.
  • Adhered strictly to hygiene standards whilst preparing meals and snacks; ensured overall well-being of children.

This role was fulfilling and I learnt a lot about the nursery environment and how to effectively and safely care for children and to encourage those safe attachments in order for children to feel comfortable and thrive away from their primary caregivers.
