Retrospectively, 27 years invaluable experience not just within Social Care but in other childcare settings such as Education, the Youth Offending Service, Young Offenders Institute, Residential Settings and Domestic Abuse Service. All of which have provided me with the understanding of fundamental aspects of working with children and families. Throughout different stages of my career, I gained experience in delivering parenting session that had elements of the Solihull approach, the circle of security along with aspects of NVR, thus giving me an understanding of how focusing on wellbeing of both parents and children can encourage positive relationships which in turn helps to regulate emotions and behaviour. After graduating from the social work degree, I gained a position with a front-line Child Protection Team where I gained vital skills that enhanced my practice. The opportunity arose to work as part of a multi-agency Missing Children's Team who Specialised in Child Sexual and Criminal exploitation, Trafficking and Modern Slavery. Returning to front-line duties gave me the opportunity to further expand my knowledge in dealing with complex cases, producing court statements and court appointed assessments such as parenting, sibling and special guardian assessments. During my time as a frontline worker in both Cardiff and Bridgend Authorities working within the Signs of safety framework, I volunteered to be the SOS Champion. In my current role as a Mentor, I provide essential guidance and support to staff in navigating sensitive and complex situations and offer practical insight and demonstrate effective interventions. Throughout my working profession and personal life, I rely on my ability to quickly establish positive relationships. I also regard myself as a highly motivated energetic team member and I am committed to working in person centred approach.
