Work history

Social Media Marketing Volunteer

White Rose
12.2025 - 01.2026
  • Volunteered at White Rose during Christmas Break at university, working with a team of 7 volunteers to help curate social media content for their online accounts.
  • Worked together to develop ideas and posts, agreeing on four key features to keep in mind when doing so: clothing donated; subgroups of customers who were already regular buyers; potential customers White Rose wished to target; and the type of store that that particular White Rose outlet wished to present itself as.
  • Learned new marketing techniques, also greatly developing teamworking skills through effective communication and efficient research, ensuring that the right values were reflected in social media content that was made.
  • Helped combine useful, different ideas from all volunteers to produce online content that best suited the store and it's target audience.

Waitress

The Cod Scallops
08.2023 - 09.2025
  • Worked with a team of staff to produce an efficient, welcoming environment to customers, including cleaning to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Gained beneficial time management skills, from juggling several different time dependent tasks at once; acquiring this required effective communication and teamworking, as completing all of these tasks to the best standard was only possible through coordination with all the staff.
  • Handled transactions accurately, took calls, and managed reservation systems while also utilising professional communication skills to resolve any customer complaints, allowing for highest possible customer satisfaction.
  • Instructed newer staff, developing experience in leadership roles within working environments and the responsibility required for them.

General volunteer

Oxfam (Books and Music)
09.2024 - 05.2025
  • Worked with other volunteers labelling, pricing, and sorting books and music items such as CDs and sheet music into their respective genres, allowing easy product location for customers.
  • Separated donations received based on quality, ensuring the only books put on shelves, despite being second hand, were of good quality, promoting excellent organisational skills.
  • Interacted with customers, taking in donations and selling them to others, curating a welcoming environment essential to a charity shop.

Affiliations

  • I am a committed climber, and spent a large part of my childhood completing a NICAS climbing course. Climbing is a sport that requires problem solving, attention to detail, teamworking, and incredible responsibility; most of the time you are holding your climbing partners life in your hands. Once I progressed to become a qualified lead climber on my course, I helped teach some of the younger climbers just progressing into lead climbing, instructing them on how to handle the ropes and follow rules to stay safe.
  • During my first term at university I wrote for the student newspaper, Varsity. Writing articles involved research and communication with the other students of the university in order to present the most accurate representation of their attitudes within my work. It also aided me in progressing my professional writing skills, showing me the method of prose I needed to use to construct a good article.
