Enthusiastic and dedicated ecology graduate with a focused ambition to work within the environmental sector. Graduating from the University of Aberdeen in November 2024 with the degree of Ecology BSc(Hons) with first class honours. I have built a sound knowledge basis of Scottish species and habitats and have developed practical skills in protected species and habitat surveying, as well as the communication of science, learnt through my university studies. With a passion for the conservation of wildlife combined with workplace skills learnt through several years experience in team-orientated and public-facing roles, I am well placed to start a career within environmental protection and add value to the industry.
Duties included preparing polling locations, verifying voters, issuing ballots, presenting voting procedures, and ensuring safe delivery of votes to elections offices. This role developed attention to detail, diplomacy, and communication skills while ensuring fair conduct of elections and interacting with diverse communities.
As a key staff member at Hooched Ltd, I handled bar operations, promotions, and social media, I opened/closed the venue and designed, developed and hosted successful 'Drink and Draw' events, enhancing events organising and public-engagement skills while working with a burgeoning arts community and diversifying the bar's clientele.
Duties included selling tickets, food and drinks, cleaning screens and dealing with customer queries. This role allowed development of strong customer service skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. I gained experience in sales techniques for which I was consistently in upselling leader boards, and learned to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, my responsibility for training new colleagues enhanced my leadership and mentoring skills.
Endurance, positive attitude and ability to adapt to new surroundings was essential for this role which involved preparing and serving food in an intensely fast-paced environment, during all weather conditions, to constantly changing audiences across the country at large scale events.
