I am currently a Fire and Security Engineer for Churches Fire and Security. I began in April 2022, where I started out as a fire extinguisher technician. My job role involves visiting customer sites to perform servicing, installation, and call-out tasks regarding fire and security. Following on from my previous experience, this job has further enhanced my abilities to be self-sufficient, organise my time efficiently, create working relationships with customers, and gain experience on a range of systems. I have over four years experience in the fire extinguisher discipline (BAFE qualified), over two years experience in the fire alarm discipline (with both conventional and advanced fire alarm systems) just under a year's experience working on security systems (predominantly Galaxy and Texecom) and 2 years experience in Nurse/Warden call systems (Intercall).
My job role saw me work on a range of electro-mechanical machines in the retail, banking, and gaming sectors. My role was field-based, meaning I worked independently, travelling around the South West region, following jobs sent to me from head office. This job not only taught me some hugely significant skills, such as following company guidelines, social and customer-facing skills, organisational skills, and self-motivating skills, but also added to my knowledge of repairing and maintaining electro-mechanical equipment. During my time at Glory, I also completed two Level 2 qualifications in engineering. These helped me to achieve a Level 2 engineering status in my company. I worked extremely hard to become competent on a range of machines following training, gained vast knowledge and skills whilst working independently on customer sites, and improved my communication skills during maintenance activities in the field service industry.
My job at Lucid CX consisted of producing high-quality digital content for companies such as Tesco, Samsung, Sky, and Virgin. The most important skills I learnt through the job were self-organisation, an eye for detail, working independently, and, most importantly, how to understand customer needs and adapt my work based on these. I worked closely with my team to meet deadlines and was able to adapt very well to the ever-changing needs in the industry. I am a very determined and passionate individual, and I believe this role helps me to meet my daily targets on a regular basis.
My job role at SPC International included the repair, refurbishment, and remarketing of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment in the IT, banking, and retail sectors. In the four years that I worked for the company, I worked on various equipment such as computer base units, motherboards, printers, and networking equipment. As a result, I gained vast knowledge and experience in the IT industry. I also learnt and honed skills such as the ability to meet targets, organise my time effectively to meet goals, and communicate as part of a team.
Within my job role, I provided friendly and efficient customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. I assisted customers with product enquiries, operated tills accurately, replenished stock, and maintained clean, well-organised displays. I not only worked effectively as part of a team to meet daily targets and ensure a positive shopping experience, but also spent a period of time managing my own small team of colleagues.
