Provide senior clinical, operational, and workforce leadership within a high-volume Emergency Department, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient delivery of patient care.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements:
- Lead and coordinate a workforce of 100+ nursing staff, ensuring safe staffing levels aligned with patient acuity and service demand.
- Maintain strong clinical oversight across all ED areas (Triage, Resus, Acute Zones), ensuring safe decision-making and prioritisation of care.
- Work closely with Patient Flow and Site Nurse Managers, in conjunction with the Emergency Department CNM3, ADON and DNM, to support safe and effective patient throughput.

- Manage and oversee departmental rostering, ensuring optimal workforce allocation and appropriate skill mix.
- Utilise electronic rostering systems (Loop, Allocate platforms) to manage staffing requests and workforce planning.
- Support real-time operational decision-making, including staff redeployment and escalation management during high-pressure situations.
- Actively contribute to a steering group implementing bank booking systems, supporting service redesign and workforce efficiency.
- Lead and support clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and governance activities, ensuring compliance with HIQA standards.
- Provide leadership in incident response, risk management, and service improvement initiatives.
