Ben Wilson

A motivated and ambitious Power Engineering student with a strong foundation in electrical power systems, generation, and control. Completed a HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and now pursuing a BEng (Hons) in Electrical Power Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University. Skilled in power systems analysis, electrical machines, and industry standards, with hands-on experience in design, testing, and project-based work. An outgoing and collaborative individual , with strong teamwork and communication skills, and a proven ability to build positive working relationships. Eager to apply theoretical and real-world industry experience developing toward a career in power generation and project engineering. A long-term goal of progressing into project engineering and management roles within the energy sector.

• Designed the electrical infrastructure for a theoretical soft drinks factory, including office-side UPS/HVAC systems, factory floor cabling layout, lighting calculations, and detailed cable sizing, protection, earthing, and socket placement in line with industry standard
• Produced a comprehensive technical report documenting the full design process, including detailed appendices, references, schematics, and diagrams to demonstrate methodology and compliance with engineering standards
• Designed and selected heating, lighting, and ventilation installations for classrooms, focusing on energy efficiency and comfort, and presented findings in comprehensive reports
• Designed and built an operational LDR circuit on a breadboard using real components, highlighting practical circuit design, assembly, and testing skills
• Pathway selection for Glasgow and West rugby development
• Winner of consecutive 'Player of the Year' awards for both club and school rugby
• Gold medal in long jump at district schools' tournament
• Completed Rugby Referee course
