Summary

A self-driven Quantity Surveyor with over nine years’ industry experience delivering effective cost control and contract management across housing, commercial and refurbishment sectors. Gaining higher education on a part-time basis alongside full-time employment has accelerated my professional development, strengthening my technical, commercial and practical skills. I relocated to Bristol to expand my experience as a Quantity Surveyor, gaining exposure to a larger and more commercially diverse construction market. This move enabled me to develop my skills further by diversifying across a broader range of projects. I am now seeking to return to Scotland to apply this enhanced experience and contribute effectively within the Scottish construction sector.

Work history

Quantity Surveyor

AtkinsRéalis
Bristol, England
2024.04 - Current

At AtkinsRéalis, I have significantly enhanced my commercial, contractual and project management capability within a high-workload, fast-paced environment. I have taken on increased responsibility for mentoring and supervising junior colleagues, delegating workload to ensure efficient and consistent project delivery. Working within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation has enabled me to lead high-value, complex projects while maintaining a strong ethos of project ownership and attention to detail developed through earlier experience in a small quantity surveying practice.

Over the past year, one of my responsibilities has been as Project Quantity Surveyor for Edaroth (part of the AtkinsRéalis Group), expanding my role beyond traditional client-side services to gain contractor-side experience. This has strengthened my understanding of commercial management, risk management and delivery. Successfully operating within a tight-knit delivery team has reinforced the importance of clear leadership, collaboration and communication to overcome the challenges of delivering MMC social housing units in constrained sites.

Quantity Surveyor

Brownriggs
Dundee, Scotland
2016.09 - 2024.04

I joined the practice as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and progressed to leading full project delivery as qualified Quantity Surveyor, Contract Administrator and Employer’s Agent, reflecting strong technical capability, trust and progression within the practice. In my last six months of working at Brownriggs, I mentored a Trainee Quantity Surveyor which was my first introduction to leadership and management of junior colleagues.
