  • Whilst studying for my NCTJ diploma in Sports Journalism I managed to secure a work placement with the US Sports team at the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express.
  • During this placement I started by writing SEO focused content in preparation for the launch of the Express' US site in June.
  • My editor then asked me to start pitching ideas that I had whilst also entrusting me to focus more on latest news articles.
  • On the night of the 2023 NFL Draft, my article on Eli Manning was the most viewed US Sports article on the Mirrors website whilst also providing basketball and NFL content for the Express' website.

  • Spearheaded community fundraisers and cultivated partnerships to increase program revenue.

  • Working on multiple different sections in the kitchen including “sandwich, mezze and pass.” The sandwich section involved cooking different types of meats and working in conjunction with the other sections to stay organised whilst providing different set-ups for the food being provided
  • Mezze focused on providing all the desserts coming out of the kitchen and making any salads or soups
  • Running the pass once again allowed me to improve my organisation skills, in this role your main job is to garnish all the dishes and work in conjunction with the food runners to get the food to the tables in a fast and consistent fashion
  • This role required me to adopt a flexible approach to daily tasks and taught me the value of positive and effective communication between colleagues.

Interests

Outside of work I am a keen sportsman and have represented a number of local football teams, including Bath City A team and Larkhall Football Club. In addition, I have recently completed a 50 mile charity bike ride in aid of a 6-year old diagnosed with leukemia. I also am very interested in food and I enjoy cooking. This interest encouraged me to compile a step-by-step cook book for the skill area of my Duke of Edinburgh award. Recently I have also been recording a podcast alongside my cousin centered around fantasy football as a way of learning how to research and record.
