My initial employment within Air2000 and 30 year career within the police service has allowed me to develop and use effective communication to the best of my ability to both diffuse and de-escalate volatile situations but also to be able to deliver and provide courteous friendly customer service.
Customer focus has been at the forefront of my career and my final current role as that of lead instructor has allowed me to have the autonomy to use my communication and open friendly approach to train and develop others to an expected high standard.
My role in armed policing and training has given me the ability to remain calm in high end stressful situations and the understanding of a holistic approach to calmly achieve a safer outcome for al persons involved. I have received commendations for incidents and gained and built on experiences to develop and grow.
I pride myself in my approachability and communication skills and my desire to develop others.
My current role is that of Force Lead Taser Instructor and Deputy Chief Taser Instructor.
This role gives me the responsibility of designing, writing and implementing Taser Training for the whole of Devon and Cornwall police. It involves national liaison with other forces and business to ensuring continuity and credibility of training to the standards set by a national curriculum.
I hold responsibility for developing trainers and holding account for standards of delivery and content, ensuring continuity and professionalism.
I am also a nationally qualified Personal Safety instructor whereby i deliver officer safety to both Police Officers and outside partner agencies.
In 2013 I qualified as a National Police Firearms Instructor and became a full time Instructor. During this time I held the role of Lead instructor for Taser Conducted Energy Devises within Armed Policing for Devon and Cornwall Police.
I also completed a Pre-Hospital Trauma Course (PHTC) where i took on the role of Lead Medic Trainer.
This role as an instructor involved me writing, designing and developing courses and assessments within nationally set guidelines so as to ensure policing and officers were compliant with governmentally set standards and curriculums.
My role for for over 20 years was that of an Armed Response officer. During this time I qualified in Advanced and Tactical driving standards, as well as that of nationally accredited Operational Scene Commander and Tactical Adviser in both Spontaneous and Pre-Planned Operations.
My role as part of a team also saw me qualify and gain experience in surveillance techniques, plain clothed operations and become a member of the Counter Action Terrorist Team.
This role saw me progress into the Tactical Training Delivery unit and a full time qualified instructor.
My role as a response officer gave me responsibility for responding to emergency situations as well as being involved pro-actively within the community.
With a focus on the prevention of crime and gathering and disseminating of intelligence to promote community safety this is where i developed my initial policing skills both within in a team but also that of a solo responding officer and the responsibility of delivery community safety.
As a cabin crew member I was responsible for primarily the safety of passengers aboard the aircraft as well as delivering high end customer services.
Air2000 was an award winning airline with a strong sense of customer focus and my role entailed me delivery both service and safety measures to ensure those standards were maintained to a level of being the nationally awarded lead airline.
