Within 4 months of working at the bar/nightclub, I was promoted to supervisor where I was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the business as well as my employees. I learnt how to strike a key balance between creating an excitable workplace and maintaining respect from my employees to ensure maximum productivity. Due to the nature of night work, it was vital I could control chaotic environments under extreme pressure . At the time of being 20 years old, learning such skills changed my view on the workplace and created a newfound respect for effective leaders.

While shadowing an LME floor trader, I learnt my Backwardations and Contango's to workout profit and loss on positions. Clerked deals on the LME floor and sent blotters back to the matching department. I gave back detailed accurate floor commentary of rates to the A.E's on the phones. At an early age I learnt what it meant to work in the city and the pressure that jobs can bring.

This role demonstrates my ability to maintain alertness and professionalism for prolonged periods, which is key when working in a demanding environment. At 17 I learnt key skills which I have transferred to every job since and has moulded my professional character in the workplace.
