I am a Peer Support Navigator. I offer support to young people going through the criminal justice system as well as going to schools. I create and deliver sessions on various topics such as county line and exploitation.
I had to exercise my public speaking when delivering presentations to managers and staff within the Youth Justice Service.
As well as that, other roles include:
- Administration
- Data collection
- Behaviour management
Due to my experiences as a young care leaver, I was asked to complete the Young Recruiter Training to assist at job interviews within Social Services. I recently joined an interview panel for the role of Group Manager alongside an Assistant Director of Children's Social Care, an Assistant Director of our Specialist Services and a Senior HR Consultant. I asked both candidates questions, took notes and provided feedback to the rest of the panel on who I thought would be the best fit for the role. Later that day, I received emails from the rest of the panel complimenting me on my " mature and insightful contribution" and saying that I provided " a valuable context" to the discussions.
I was a member of the interview panel where I interviewed candidates for a management role.
This entailed:
- Listening
- Note-taking
- Debriefing
- Providing feedback
I was hired as kitchen staff.
